Community Foundation Partners with Boys & Girls Club of MHC to Implement New Dental Program for Youth

Martinsville, VA – Martinsville Area Community Foundation (MACF) has awarded a grant of $24,000 to Boys & Girls Club of Martinsville & Henry County (BGCMHC) to implement the Delta Dental Smart Smiles® program into the Club. The Smart Smiles® program is a partnership between the Virginia Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs and Delta Dental of Virginia to improve access to dental care for low-income children and youth. Details of the kickoff celebration and presentation will be announced shortly.

Anne Frazier, Area Director of BGCMHC, notes “This is a wonderful new resource that MACF is making possible for us. The Delta Dental Smart Smiles program will consist of oral health education and provision of a dental home with preventive and restorative care, and we will provide case management and transportation to and from the dental office. Our children will receive comprehensive oral health services thanks to the Piedmont Virginia Dental Health Clinic. The Club is all about changing the lives of youth for the better, and this is one more important way we will do just that.”
