Realizing that the need for oral health care for low income children expands well beyond the children participating in the Boys and Girls Clubs, Delta Dental’s Smart Smiles is a proud supporter of the national Give Kids a Smile Day. Spearheaded statewide by the Virginia Dental Association, this annual event provides oral health screenings and care to qualifying youth identified by local school nurses and served by partner organizations.

From 2004 to 2007, approximately 5,700 Richmond-area children from low-income families received free dental services including exams, cleanings and fluoride treatments as part of the Give Kids a Smile Day. Similar events held in the Tidewater area have served 283 Boys & Girls Club members
